Hard Engine Break-In

Ordinary riders doing extraordinary things

Hard Engine Break-In

My friends and I have talked at great length about breaking components in whether on a bike or an automobile. The fact is, components need to “mate” or “seat” in to their new home in your machine.
It may be brake pads and rotors, it may be pistons/rings in a freshly honed cylinder -regardless, new components need to be flogged into submission and broken-in. Just like some foods that need to be cooked for their nutrients to be released, your freshly assembled kit needs to have it’s spirit broken and cleaved to the whole animal that it serves! Whip those suckas into shape and get them up to operational standards ASAP!!
Here’s Mr. The Gardensnake talking about the hate he received for not “gently” breaking in his mosheen for the first 600 miles or so…
Enjoy.
