Hello Patrons!

Ordinary riders doing extraordinary things

Hello Patrons!

First off, nice pic – amiright!? It’s a constant struggle to get these things to be formatted right for the blog (www.creative-riding.com)
The iOS EXIF format properties always default to a 90º rotation to the left depending on the browser. Isn’t that weird and interesting?

Ok, second. Now that the stimulating talk about picture rotation is out of the way, I am working on our first Patron-only episode. It won’t be out for a while, as I’m trying to research this and write it in the way you would write an educational or historical text – full of fact and historical insight.

I don’t want to get it wrong, and there is a lot of material to research. I am not going to put out an episode where I guess about facts or make stuff up (for once! LOL)

I also talked to Liza from the Motorcycles & Misfits podcast about a few things. I like to bounce ideas off of her once in a while. She’s a great sounding board and has experience to back it up. She talked to me about her Patreon-backed episodes, and she shared this little tidbit:
I will paraphrase because i can’t remember her exact words, but it was some thing like, “What do you want to give your supporters with your Patreon-only episodes? I started releasing mine to the public, because it’s not really a benefit to keep them exclusive. It limits the exposure to the show.” And we talked a bit about exposure and sponsorship, yadda yadda.

So, what she really said to me was that I have about 10 patrons. Doing a bunch of research for 10 people and making a sweet episode that only 10 people will hear is not good ROI. So here is my plan:
1. Research and write sweet-ass episode.
2. Record sweet-ass episode (for the 10 of you!)
3. Tease a 10 second clip to encourage more people to become patrons so that I can get reimbursed for any copyrighted licensing or costs to make the patron supported episodes.
4. Eventually (well, potentially) release them to the public after 6-12 months.
That doesn’t seem fair to us here on Patreon however, since your support is what makes this all possible, so-

Here’s what you get that’s extra:
5. Publish private patron-only web page with exclusive pics and copy. Basically write out the episode in visual form so that you can re-visit/re-read at any time.
6. Links to all of the reference and research material in case you want to delve deeper into the Junk Pile yourselves.
7. Embedded player so that you don’t have to search for your track however you listen to your podcasts.
8. I will choose a Patron name from a hat and that person will get a picture made by me that is significant to the topic. Then when your cheesy uncle Dave or gullible neighbors come over and ask about the “unique artwork”, you can go into the whole historical topic as if you researched it yourself. You’re welcome!
