Patreon has launched
Patrons welcome
Racers and custom builders have understood this for a long time: ‘If you want to make a small fortune in motorcycles, start out with a large fortune’.
The same can be said for Creative Riding. The blog and podcast are free and will continue to be free, but they cost money to produce.
Many people have suggested that they would like to see a Patreon campaign for the show as a way to support our efforts. After some consideration I’ve stepped up and answered that request.
It was never my intention to make money from the show, or use it as a platform to generate income. It will always be about you and others like you – ordinary riders doing extraordinary things in the world.
I can’t thank all of the previous guests and contributors enough for their support and feedback over the past couple of years.
The goal of the show will remain the same, but we’re hoping that with some support, we can actually bring the listeners a little more. The Patreon support will hopefully help to cover the cost of producing the show. If we can accomplish that, then we will use the extra support to improve the sound quality and replace/upgrade equipment.
The long-term goals for the show are to be able to offer you listeners other ways to show your support by giving back to you. That means being able to offer you stickers and shirts and other cool swag so that you have something to show for your support other than a receipt.
I will also use extra support to buy bigger and better prizes for Solstice Slam and Spooky Spokes or other competitions that we may be able to start throughout the year.
Finally, after all the upgrades and replacement of gear, development of swag, and investment in the backside of the show, I intend to bring some new content with the addition of new gear. That means more music, the possibility of live streaming, possible video content, and merch/prizes for Patron giveaways.
I know that it’s going to take some time to build the income to accomplish those goals, and it may never make it past covering the monthly hosting fees, but that’s good enough for me. Any help is appreciated, and will free up my pockets so that I can spend more money on the aforementioned improvements. We’re going to make the upgrades regardless of income stream, but your support will greatly speed up the process! Thanks again and we hope to do great things with you and for you!
