Solstice Slam III

Ordinary riders doing extraordinary things

Solstice Slam III

As the dust settles on the podcast gear (literally), and the audio files process in the nether regions of the laptop, I thought I’d reflect on another great year of Solstice Slam submissions.

I stayed up really late waiting for any last minute submissions. I recorded the show on fumes. And I’m proud to say that this year there were some stand out submissions. Hopefully I didn’t miss any, as people were submitting entries by all sorts of means and methods.

Some entries were accompanied by photos, and I thought I’d share them in this post since they won’t go in the podcast notes. The stories this year were very motivational and funny. I had takeaways from every single one as well. I was motivated by a couple to be a better rider, and motivated by others to be a better podcast host.

All in all, what I learned this year from Solstice Slam is that there is always a good story lurking in this lifestyle that we all take part in. We fuel them with our passion, our desire to become better riders, and sometimes, our blood. Literally. Blood, sweat, tears.

Here are some of the submissions:

“…I wanted something extra special. So for about 2 years now I’ve had these plans. Bob the fender, minimize the rear. You know modern day version of a bobber.” – Dangerous Dave

Lorraine is the first to make it to the crash site, and manages to get a giant bag of ice from one of the near-by bars. She says they were all excited to find out I wasn’t dead.
