Solstice Slam Results!

Solstice Slam Results!

Hey everyone! Although the Patreon crew has already seen the results, I almost forgot to make a post about it here for everyone else!
The assignment: Photographic evidence including a pic of you or your bike…
This year’s theme: D.U.M.B.s. Otherwise known as deep underground military bases, a haven for despicable aliens!! Deep underground military bases are rumored to not only house alien life and technology, but apparently they have also been the scene of outrageous human-alien battles.
It seems weird to me that the government would spend time and money on the construction of a facility that would ultimately be overrun by freakish extra-terrestrials. Maybe it was all part of the plan. After all, some people live with their in-laws, and that seems to work out.

Solstice Slam Submission

We received quite a few submissions this year, including some very interesting warnings and missives of great concern for our safety. I have to say that I was also not prepared to be subscribed to a list of conspiracy theory articles after having looked up this guy Phil Schneider that I kept hearing about.

Out of the many submissions, five were ultimately determined to be enterable, and the winner for best overall Solstice Slam submission was Ray L.
Ray sent the following explanation in his email:
“…I’m also submitting for solstice slam! I live in one of the mentioned states that doesn’t have DUMBs unfortunately. Though I could look for one on an active military base that’s nearby, I’d rather not get questioned by security forces lol.

BUT, while out for a chilly ride out on the backroads I stumbled across some travelers in need of directions. Even though we didn’t speak the same language, I was able to help them and we became good friends! Enjoy the pictures and looking forward to extra Patreon content and the next show!”

Thank you Ray (and everyone that submitted) for the amazing pictures and the great story!

Patreon Pick

If you are a $5 and up Patreon Supporter, then you have a chance to be selected without even submitting to the Slam, which can act as a backup in case the independent judges don’t choose your Solstice Slam submission. This is a relatively new category that was created for Patreon supporters. I cannot think of a time yet where a Patreon member has won a submission and the random Patreon draw. Josh came close this year, as his submission was near the top of the judges’ cards.

Even though he didn’t have to submit to be part of the random draw, we’re glad he did! Here’s what Josh had to say about his submission:

“I am submitting Three Mile Island as my entry for Solstice Slam. I suspect that it is actually a D.U.M.B. because it conveniently had an “accident” requiring evacuations and closure. What better way to hide aliens? It is highly restricted access and now Microsoft wants to restart it for AI, better known as Alien Intelligence.”

We couldn’t agree with Josh more! Hide it in plain sight!! Why else would Microsoft want to establish some tech development centers with the property if it wasn’t to leech alien technology from the inhabitants of reactor 3?!

Congrats to the winners, and thanks again to all that submitted a photo and story for the SLAM! – Junk
