The Motorcycle Podcasters Challenge Returns!
You may remember the mayhem, the madness, the fervor and acid reflux that insulted the MPC Admins every summer.
Once upon a time there was a seasonal confluence of motorcycle podcasts that got together for a friendly competition involving an alpha-numeric scavenger hunt, team dynamics, and the weirdest questions regarding street names and their points values that you’ll ever hear.
The latter actually became a heated topic as the rider count grew and teams became more serious about winning. Pride was on the line every summer for the title of Loud Pipes!’ Motorcycle Podcast Challenge champion and the grand prize –
Oh, there was no grand prize. The title of champion was about the extent of the prizes, although there was a large, cumbersome trophy that came into existence at some point, and I’m not sure where its final resting place was, but God forbid that you won, then had to pay for shipping to and from your mantle after the next year’s winners were crowned.

At any rate, the point of the competition was to get out and ride. It was a legitimate reason to get in the saddle even if you had no other reason. The further you strayed from home to check off items form the list, the better, as mileage bonuses were given.
Eventually teams and podcasts evolved into fans, listeners, supporters and even usurpers to the crown riding as the general public came to compete and it was every rider for themself.
What a great reason to get out and explore – just because. Because others were, your team mates and competitors were. “Because” was the only reason that you needed, but that doesn’t mean that people rested on their laurels. The riding and the camaraderie were second only to the fierce sense of friendly competition. Teams would plan and scheme and ride, all in the name of the Motorcycle Podcasters Challenge and what that entailed.
Covid-19 hit the challenge just as hard as everything else, and I think chaos and event management took its toll on the Admins after a while. The MPC ended… in reality it was just on hiatus. We all know that it would be back some day. And here it is.
2026 and the MPC has returned. This time championed by The Motorcycle Men podcast. The rules were never hard to follow, but that doesn’t mean that people didn’t make them hard to understand. This year the rules are about as simple as it gets. Signing up on the new website is about the hardest part, and it’s not hard.
I’m grateful that it’s back, and I think that you should check out the link above to sign up.
